SLO County ARES Training Plan
SLO County ARES follows the ARRL ARES Standardized Training Plan for Emergency Communicators.
Getting Started
Each team member should download their own copy of the ARES Emergency Communicator Individual Task Book.
Begin working through the required tasks as soon as possible.
Document your progress in the Task Book and have completed items signed off by your Emergency Coordinator (EC) or the District Emergency Coordinator (DEC).
Training Requirements
All members must achieve Skill Level 2 (Intermediate) within one year of joining ARES.
Completed skills should be reviewed and practiced regularly to maintain readiness.
Additional Local Requirements
Local training topics and skills may be added to the Task Book to meet the specific needs of our served agencies.
The goal of this plan is to ensure every team member is trained, certified, and confident in their ability to provide reliable emergency communications when needed.
CERT Training is strongly recommended for all ARES members.
